Nie každý zmeškaný let je katastrofa / Not all the missed flights are a disaster

V Belehrade sme prespali a ďalší večer leteli naspäť do Viedne.

3. Minulý marec som letela naspäť do USA pozrieť rodinu a kamarátov.

5. Minulé leto ma skoro nevpustili do Turecka. Keď som stála na pasovej kontrole, policajtke sa voľačo nezdalo a vážne otázky mi začala dávať a zrazu že “come with me”. ■

Hello yellow..So in my case, never really goes according to plans. Sometimes I imagine how things should be like, and then I am like “at least I know it´s not going to be like this”. Not every missed flight is a disaster and some situations are rather funny than sad. There are 5 situations which happened to me, and believe me, at the exact moment I wasn´t the happiest, but now I find them entertaining.

1.The first time ever I missed my flight in Madrid, Spain, when I was returning home from my exchange program from the USA. It was a connecting flight from Chicago, through Madrid and to Vienna. I had a very little time, and I actually had a feeling that I was not going to make it. So yes, after two days of barely sleeping, I got to hang out in Madrid for seven hours. I could not really go anywhere since I had three luggages, a blanket, my notbook, the carry on and a bag. When I finally reached Vienna, they stopped me and went through all my papers because they thought I am trying to migrate. .

2. My family and I were flying to the Seychelles and we supposed to have a connecting flight in Belgrade and Dubai. They told us our plane (on the route Vienna – Belgrade) got broken, so we landed in Timisoara (a city in Romania). We had to take a bus for six hours from Timisoara to Belgrade. We slept over in Belgrade and the next evening we supposed to fly back to Vienna. It was all really complicated, you can read the whole story HERE. The airline got us an accomodation in one of the best hotels in Belgrade, so we got to see Belgrade as well and our vacation was extended.

3.Last March I was flying back to the USA to visit my host-family and friends. I had an early flight from Vienna, and supposed to take an another plane in Berlin, Germany. The night before my flight, my aunt called me and asked, if I knew all the flights from and to Berlin are cancelled. So I called the airport and and the airline, nobody knew anything except that the flights are cancelled. So we came to the airport in Vienna earlier then I supposed to, and luckilly, they gave me a direct flight from Vienna  to Chicago. I was lucky just because I arrived earlier, some people didn´t exactly get the best flights, they had to fly back and forth through the globe to get to Chicago.

4.Three weeks later I was flying home from my visit in the USA. I am not really sure why, but this day really got stuck in my mind. It was Thursday, I came home (to my house) around five in the evening, and Friday morning at 3:30 I had to leave to to airport, because I was flying to Barcelona for two months. Besides that, my parents were on a vacation, so I didn´t even get to see them. There was no one who could take me to the airport, so we agreed that I will take a car and leave it at the airport, and when they come home from their vacation, they will take it home. (The funny thing is that it was the first time ever I was driving on a highway, and I don´t easily get stressed out, but that time I was quite scared. In addition, the jet-lag was real and I wasn´t even sure what I was doing and what the time was. Plus, I didn´t even know the family I was going to live with, because I found them on the Internet).

5.Last year I had troubles at the airport in Turkey. When I was standing in a line for passport controll, they did not let me go through. I guess I was suspicious to the policewoman, she started asking me a bunch of questions and then she was like “come with me”. Now, imagine all the people staring at you at the airport, I felt quite weird. They took me to one room with another policeman inside, asked me more questions, scanned my passport, took fingerprints and pictures and there were two policemen standing by the door (so I can not run away or something?) Isn´t that a nice welcome? ■
